STUDENT FLAT WITH HOAS
In Finland, particularly in Helsinki which has been designated the 11th more expensive capital in Europe, the accommodation will be an important output in your budget.
If you are student, you can applied to HOAS flat (non-profit organization) is the cheapest and the easier way to find a flat in Helsinki.
You have different option depending on your profile and how lucky you are.
Hoas has four kind of accommodation option for exchange student which are the following: a room in a shared apartment, a shared room in a shared apartment, a studio apartment and finally a shared studio apartment.
The room are automatically furnished with some basic furniture as bed with mattress, table, chairs etc. However, you have to bring: own pillow, blanket, bed linen, towels and dishes but don’t worry, they will remember you it before you come.
Electricity, water and heating is including in the price as your internet connection (think about take a RJ45 -data cable).
Be careful to apply before the deadline and as soon as possible, because the place are limited and some students have to find an appartment by themself and most of the time, it result more expensive and difficult( unless you know about finnish language.)
1 - Room in a shared apartment:
First option, to take a room in a shared apartment. You will have your private bedroom and share kitchen, bathroom and possibly other common areas with other exchange students in the same apartment. Boys and girls are never in the same apartment but to reassure the male, you will be in the same building. Your kitchen is also equipped.
The price is 396 €/ month per person.

2 - Share a room in a flat
The second option is to share a room in a flat with someone else, for example a good friend of you.
The price is 237,50 €/month per person

3 - Studio
The third option is to live in a studio, it's one-room apartment with a private bathroom, toilet and a small kitchen with stove/oven and refrigerator. Sizes of studio apartments vary between 20- 30 square metres.

4 - Shared Studio
The fourth option is to share a studio apartment witch can be a solution if you want to live with your friend or if you have a boy/girl friend.
In the application don't forget to write the name of the person you want to share the appartment with.

4 - Empty Apartment
The last one is to apply for a unfurnished (empty) apartments, it's around 273 € per month and you have to stay there all your studies in order to benefit from it, better go here for have further information.
As you can see in the description, the services provided by HOAS are vast and would be able to satisfy each one depending of his/her personality, budget and relationship.
